Texting is a growing epidemic in the country and is creating new dangers on our roadways. State Representative Donna Lichtenegger is encouraging the residents in her district, the 157th, to join AT&T in the “It Can Wait” campaign. She is calling on drivers to pledge not to text while driving and encourage others to do the same. A ban was put in place in 2009 prohibiting anyone under 21 years old to text while operating a vehicle. Lichtenegger tells KZIM-KSIM even older drivers are being affected. Statistics show 96-percent of teens know the danger of texting but 43-percent admit they still do it. 75-percent say their friends commonly text while driving. Lichtenegger urges you to visit ItCanWait.com to pledge today.
