Sex trafficking. It is happening here. Don’t miss a free screening of a documentary that will open your eyes

Nov 20, 2013 -- 4:03pm

Slavery is NOT a thing of the past. Did you know human trafficking generates $9.5 billion yearly and that’s just in the United States. Statistics show the average victim may be forced to have sex up to 20-48 times a day. The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau is hoping to shed some more light on the issue with a free screening of a documentary entitled “Nefarious: Merchant of Souls”. Spokesperson Jennifer Criblez tells KZIM KSIM it is far more prevalent than Americans want to believe…" Over 300-thousand are in the sex slave population in the US alone! Many are not even old enough to drive. So we're looking at 13 to 14 year old kids being brought into this." The documentary is not suitable for those under sixteen years old as it contains graphic depictions of sex trafficking. Attend for free at La Croix United Methodist Church on Lexington in Cape, Monday the 25th at 6:30 pm. FYI – The Department Of Justice has identified St. Louis as being in the top twenty human trafficking jurisdictions in the country.
