The Poplar Bluff school district is examining their recent population growth, and anticipating their increased enrollment by being proactive. With the possibility of their student body growing from 52-hundred to over 6000, Superintendent Chris Hon tells KZIM-KSIM that they are looking at a 20-year plan for the district, and including those affected. Hon says that they have created a multilevel team, beginning with a group that selected representation from all areas of the district, across all age groups to fully reflect the community. The creation of the teams was spurred by a survey of registered voters who responded favorably to a bond issue to expand facilities. They are working with consultants about both facilities and educational expansion. Hon says the steering committee and board will meet again this month on the 20th, and the 50 member CAC has work to accomplish before they meet again on July 9th.
