This Easter marks the 77th consecutive year people will gather for a sunrise service atop Bald Knob Mountain in Alto Pass, IL. The recently restored 111' tall Cross is celebrating its 50th birthday, having been completed in 1963. Bald Knob Cross of Peace President D.W. Presley has a long history with the cross, and tells KZIM-KSIM how far back his connection goes. Presley says the sunrise service will begin at just after 6:30 AM this year, and will feature music from Final Journey of Anna and Gary Cox of Sparta with accompanist Tammy Gurley Washer. Steven McKeown, Senior Pastor of Christian Life Center, Herrin, IL will deliver the message. Visitors will need to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
