TODAY'S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .

Natalie Figueroa, 29, who thought it would be okay to leave her seven-year-old son alone in a motel room so she and her boyfriend could go see a scary movie. She was wrong. An anonymous 911 call brought police to the motel where they found the boy. Police also found open beer cans within reach of the child in the motel room. Figueroa said she left her son at the motel because he did not want to see a scary movie. She claimed she thought her boyfriend's brother was watching her son.

AND THEN THERE'S .....

Amy McClenathan, who learned, you must be careful what you post on Facebook, because it could come back to haunt you. McClenathan says she was having a rough day at work and posted "I wish I could get fired some days, it would be easier to be at home than to have to go through this." Her boss apparently was made aware of the post and gave McClenathan her wish... and fired her.

OR HOW 'BOUT .....

Japan's finance minister, Taro Aso, who publicly stated elderly people should "hurry up and die" so that pressure can be relieved on the state to pay for their skyrocketing medical bills. Nearly a quarter of Japan's population is over 60, so the government is starting to feel the strain. Aso made the statement during a meeting of a national council looking at changes to social security. Did we mention Aso is 72-years-old?

OKAY, ONE MORE .....

Kenneth Guillespie a 64-year-old Englishman who tied to have sex with a snowman. By the time he was done, the snowman was destroyed and he had frostbite on his junk. The hospital says it may have to be amputated but, so far he is "still in one piece."
