A Dongola woman goes to trial this spring on a drug induced homicide charge

A Union County woman will go to trial this spring the connection with the death of Zane Smith.  58-year old Angie Liljegren and 52-year old Sandra Smith of rural Dongola were taken into custody August 20th by Illinois State Police.  26-year-old Zane Smith, Sandra’s son, was found dead September 16th, 2011.  Liljegren and Smith were alleged to provide morphine pills and fentanyl patches to him in the days prior to his death.  Liljegren is charged with one count of Drug Induced Homicide, and one count of Concealment of homicidal death.  Smith is charged with Drug-Induced Homicide and obstructing justice.  Liljegren has been scheduled for a fitness hearing on February 20th  in Jonesboro.  Smith will go to trial May 13th before Judge Mark Boie.
