Special Olympics of Missouri has more than 15-thousand athletes who participate in year round sports activities. It is not a school sponsored event… it exists because of you! The 7th annual Polar Plunge is coming up February 2nd at Lake Boutin (bow like take a bow-tin). Start getting pledges now so when they tell you to go jump in a lake you can say EXACTLY! Lieutenant John (Buddy) Davis of the Cape Police Department is proud that Special Olympics is the charity of choice for law enforcement. They have raised over a million dollars for them in the last year and are 5th in the world for fundraising! Davis will be jumping in too! He tells KZIM KSIM of course the water is cold! That’s the point! It's to do something you've never done before! For an amazing cause. If you're scared of the cold - dont be. Davis says the colder the air temperature the easier it is to get into the water! You can set up a pledge page at s-o-m-o-dot-org. You must raise a minimum of 75-dollars! This event is very popular so this year they are running shuttles from Proctor and Gamble to provide more parking! Form a team and start thinking about a costume – you could win the golden plunger award! There will be an after party at the Isle Casino in Cape. This year’s goal is 65-thousand-8-hundred-dollars!
