HELP REPLENISH WILDLIFE HABITAT WITH YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE

Dec 26, 2012 -- 2:44pm

Real Christmas trees can be recycled    now at Wappapello Lake, as a way for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide fish and wildlife with designated fish shelters.  You can drop your tree through January 15th at the boat ramps marked with special signs.  The Christmas trees are bundled together in small groups and submerged to give fish breeding areas and protection.  The Corps also uses the trees to develop cover areas for rabbits, quail and other small animals.  For more information, contact the Wappapello Lake Project Office at 573-222-8562. Christmas trees can also be dropped off through January 31 at the southeast corner of Arena Park in Cape Girardeau on Optimist Drive.
