Fire crews raced to the scene of a fire in Stoddard County Sunday night. County firefighters got the call to County Road 2-07 south of Advance around 8:30 PM Sunday for a fire at a building once known as the "Old Slaughter House." A passer-by called 911 and when fire crews arrived, flames were shooting out of the building due to high winds. It took about 90 minutes to extinguish. The building is a total loss. The cause is not known but the fire is not considered suspicious. No one was hurt.
