A Tennessee man is charged with felony assault with a motor vehicle after a high-speed chase Wednesday in the Bootheel. Caruthersville Police were called to I-155 near the city at 6 PM. An 82-year-old man was driving the wrong way on the interstate near Stubtown. He then veered north on the southbound lanes on I-55. A Caruthersville officer swerved to avoid the man, drove into the median, and slammed into a guardrail. The suspect also hit a civilian’s vehicle near the 19-mile marker. He was captured a mile later. An officer received treatment at a local hospital. Herman Maclin of Ridgely, Tennessee was released on charges of assault, leaving the scene of an accident, careless and imprudent driving, and failure to yield.
