Man acquitted in alleged suicide pact

A suburban St. Louis man has been acquitted of charges for his role in a suicide pact with a friend. KSDK-TV reported that a St. Louis County jury on Thursday found 22-year-old Jacob Runge of St. Peters not guilty of voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in the death of Alex Harkins, who died in Hazelwood in 2008. The men purchased a gun and went to a conservation area, planning to take their lives. Runge said Harkins fatally shot himself in the head. Runge said he panicked and decided not to kill himself. Harkins' body was found four days later. AP
