A Holcomb teen dies after a single vehicle accident
A Holcomb teenager is dead after a single vehicle accident in Carter County early Monday morning! 19-year-old Jakeb Burgess was driving his pick-up truck westbound on Route-E, 1-mile west of Hunter, at 12:45 AM Monday when he traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, overturned, and skidded off the left side of the road, coming to rest on its top. Burgess and 36-year-old Jeffrey Dye of Holcomb were ejected from the vehicle. Burgess was pronounced dead at the scene. Dye and another passenger suffered moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. None of the occupants were wearing their safety belts.
