Eight Ripley County men charged with using dogs to hunt deer
Eight men from the Doniphan area were charged this week with conspiracy to illegally hunt deer in the Mark Twain National Forest with the aid of dogs. The group would release dogs wearing radio location transmitters into the forest which scared the deer, causing them to run. The hunters were able to track the dogs’ locations and then found the deer nearby. It was also part of the conspiracy to use marine band radio to evade law enforcement officers by transmitting the locations of conservation agents during the hunt. The men range in age from 22-to-56. Each defendant is charged with conspiracy to illegally hunt deer from November 14th to the 25th of last year. If convicted, they each face up to one year in federal prison.
