The state recognizes Old Town Cape’s Tunes at Twilight
Old Town Cape’s Tunes at Twilight recently hit a high note with the Missouri Main Street Connection. The weekly Cape event last week won the 2009 Top Special Event award for Main Street communities statewide. The honor is based on attracting new visitors to town, involving families, and emphasizing the downtown as a centerpiece. Old Town executive director Marla Mills tells KZIM KSIM this summer and fall series has succeeded in bringing hundreds downtown every Friday night. Mills says there are four weeks left for the fall series, including this Friday with the Mike Renick Band performing at the Common Pleas Courthouse Gazebo at 6:30. Old Town Historic preservation consultant Terri Foley was also recognized at the conference as a finalist for the state’s Volunteer of the Year award.
