Four men charged with sex crimes in Scott County move through the court system
Four Scott County men in jail on sex-related charges are moving through the court system! The counts stem from a runaway juvenile investigation in Oran. Police arrested 18-year-old Michael Doles and 22-year-old Travis Guzman of Oran, 21-year-old Tyler Emerson and 24-year-old Richardson Copeland of Morley, and 20-year-old Michael Meador of Bell City. They were charged with various counts from child molestation to statutory sodomy to statutory rape. Copeland had a court trial set for Tuesday before Judge Hence Winchester. But that was cancelled for a change of judge. Meador’s case was dropped. Emerson goes back to court on the 27th, and Doles and Guzman next appear August 13th. The sheriff’s office received a report of a runaway May 7th. The girl was located the following day. During a police interview, she indicated she had numerous sexual encounters with older men over the past years. The victim reported the first incident in the spring of 2007 at the age of 13, when she was an unwilling participant in a sex act with a relative. The acts allegedly occurred in Morley, Oran, and Bell City.
