A northeast Missouri drowning claims the life of a Sikeston teenager
A Sikeston teenager has died while swimming with three others in a lake in Northeast Missouri this week! 16-year-old Phillip Wilson was at North Sever Lake Monday in Baring, Missouri, when the four attempted to swim the 150-yard distance from one shore to the other, when he went under. His body was recovered four hours later in 19-feet of water by the Missouri Water Patrol through a dragging operation. Patrolman Steve Peterson tells KZIM KSIM this will be ruled as an accidental drowning. Peterson says the teen was not wearing a floatation device and it’s unknown whether or not he was a good swimmer. None of the other teens were injured. Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston is handling Wilson’s funeral service.
