Carter County man dies from accidental gunshot wound.

A Carter County man is dead after a shooting accident. The incident occurred at a home on County Road 202 near Van Buren. Forty-two-year-old Ricky Dawson was cleaning his gun when it accidentally fired, shooting him in the chest Monday afternoon. He was taken to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. First responders spoke with Dawson before he died; he told them this was an accident and no one else was involved. No word on funeral arrangements.
