Drugs and firearms charges land a Southeast Missouri man in federal prison
A Southeast Missouri man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his role in a 2006 murder out of New Madrid County. 28-year-old Michael Meador, formerly of Sainte Genevieve, was sentenced in U-S District Court Monday to 20-years and two life terms for marijuana conspiracy, racketeering, and firearm possession to further a drug trafficking crime resulting in murder. Meador was involved with two other men in early 2006 that distributed marijuana in Southeast Missouri, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Meador and Dennis Dinwiddie plotted to murder Sergio Gonzales to rob him of the drugs and some cash. Meador was involved in the killing and tried to obstruct the investigation, but did not pull the trigger. A jury found him guilty in April. Meanwhile, Dinwiddie got three life sentences for his role. A third man is awaiting sentencing.
