A possible dog fighting organization is raided in Hayti Heights.

After receiving an anonymous tip, Caruthersville Humane Society Animal Cruelty Investigator Karol Wilcox and local law enforcement raided a suspected dog fighting ring. A search warrant was served at a Hayti Heights home today that revealed six pit bulls with injuries consistent with fighting, four living at the home and two others being held at separate locations. Wilcox tells KZIM/KSIM these animals are in pretty bad shape with infected wounds and bite marks; three are in serious condition. Wilcox says after being taken into custody the owner surrendered ownership and the animals are now being treated at the Humane Society. Other evidence was collected and a criminal investigation continues as police try to identify everyone involved in the animal cruelty. Wilcox says if you want to help with the dogs’ extensive treatment costs call 333-0100 or make out checks to the Caruthersville Humane Society at P.O. Box 3-45, Caruthersville Missouri 63830.
