A vehicle collision leads to a fire in Scott County


A two vehicle head-on collision slowed traffic, caused a fire, and sent four Scott County residents to the hospital. The Highway Patrol responded to the scene on U-S Highway-61 just south of Morley at 12:35 Thursday afternoon. 41-year-old Michael Rysdam of Morley was driving southbound when he crossed the centerline and struck a northbound car driven by 22-year-old Heather Wilson of Chaffee head-on. Rysdam’s car overturned on the roadway and caught fire. He was flown to Saint Johns Mercy Medical Center in Saint Louis with serious burns. Wilson’s car also overturned off of the roadway. She and two passengers, 23-year-old Ian Marsh and 2-year-old Maggie Marsh also of Chaffee were all transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center for various injuries. Rysdam was not wearing a safety belt. All of Wilson’s occupants were.
